Science

At Southern Cross Primary School, we foster a love of science through an inquiry-based and problem based learning approach.

Students are exposed to a variety of hands-on science activities across a range of topics. From Foundation to Grade 6, students are encouraged to use questioning and predicting to help make sense of the world around them and they love the mix of theory and practical lessons.

Each term students conduct investigations into different scientific disciplines: Biology, Chemistry, Physics as well as Earth and Space science. They work within the scientific method when conducting experiments or solving problems.  From minibeasts, plants, the Great Barrier Reef to exploring animal adaptions (with a focus on dinosaurs) and building solar ovens!  There are many fun and engaging learning opportunities the students take part in throughout their learning experience at SCPS.

Teachers and students enjoy the hands-on learning opportunities and look forward to exciting incursions and excursions throughout the year.
