Problem Based Learning

At Southern Cross Primary School PBL is used in all levels and is integrated into the curriculum. The students are able to self-direct their learning and learn valuable problem solving skills in the process.

The PBL approach allows the students to take ownership of the problem and find their own solution. The program follows six steps…

Define- The teacher defines the problem and sets the task- the students will be given a scenario of the problem.

Discover- The students have a chance to explore their dream and research any facts/ information they need to know.

Dream- Students visualise/draw what they would like to achieve and how it will look.

Design- This is the creating phase.

Deliver- The Students present to the class their final pieces.

Debrief- The students will be assessed against a rubric taken from the define phase.
