eSmart

“An eSmart school is a school where the smart, safe and responsible use of information and communications technology is a cultural norm. Students, teachers and the wide school community are equipped to embrace the best these technologies can offer, while being savvy about the pitfalls.”

Southern Cross Primary School promotes safe online behaviours for all students and the wider community.  To help with the implementation of the eSmart program, using the ‘Alannah and Madeline Foundation’ as a guide, all students and staff have signed eSmart agreements, to enhance a cybersafe learning environment.

The students participate in curriculum explicitly teaching them about practices to keep them safe online, appropriate and healthy communication when online and reporting unsafe behaviour or images they may encounter.  SCPS supports parents to build their knowledge in this area and provides suggestions of hot to provide a cybersafe environment at home through the school newsletter.

At Southern Cross Primary School we have a zero tolerance of cyberbullying and any inappropriate behaviour at any time across the school, in particular whilst students are using technology.
