Southern Cross has an engaging French language program for students from Prep to Year 6. Students at Southern Cross experience one session of French per week, thus preparing the students for their Language Studies in their Secondary schooling.
Learning a language has been shown to have many benefits, including enhancing creativity, confidence, problem-solving and literacy skills, whilst significantly encouraging cultural awareness. Our students are engaged in a varied program, which includes: listening, speaking, reading and writing activities. The majority of the lesson time is devoted to oral tasks, ensuring that all children are actively participating and therefore consolidating their French skills. Topics vary throughout the school, however; most age groups practice numbers, colours, days, months, meetings and common vocabulary.
