Grade Level Teaching Team

Our grade teachers are an enthusiastic, flexible and talented team who have high expectations of themselves and of student learning approaches. They make a positive contribution to our learning community through ongoing professional development and a love of lifelong learning. 

 

The 2018 classroom teams are: 



Prep Co-ordinator  - Meg McLaren

Meg has taught overseas with a variety of experience from Foundation to Year 6. She strongly believes that building student resilience and wellbeing are essential for both academic and social development. She enjoys watching the students have fun while they are learning by creating hands on tasks that are relevant learning experiences.

 

Foundation Classroom Teacher - Blaire Turner
Blaire joined Southern Cross Primary in 2017 as one of the foundation teachers. Blaire has worked in numerous schools in the South Eastern Suburbs and has experience teaching grades Prep through to 6. She enjoys being a part of the school community, as well as extracurricular activities including running, basketball, and horse riding. Blaire is looking forward to a wonderful year at Southern Cross Primary.

 

Grade 1/2 Co-ordinator - Angeline Singh
Angeline Singh has been at Southern Cross Primary for the past 11 years and has enjoyed teaching in all year levels. She is the Junior School Co-ordinator, member of the School Leadership Team and the School Improvement Team. Angeline is passionate and enthusiastic about her students having a growth mindset to make learning in the classroom challenging and meaningful through the effort effect. She excitedly co-ordinates the CHaTS Group (Community Harmony and Team Spirit) gatherings and all related activities at the School including playgroup and the school's annual Harmony Day Celebration.

 

 

Grade 3/4 Co-ordinator -  Kristina Krikas
Kristina Krikas has been an educator for quite a few years at various schools and has taught across all year levels. She has been at Southern Cross Primary for 17 years and is a member of the School Leadership Team. Kristina loves our school because of the family atmosphere and the dedication we all have in seeing our students succeed academically and socially. Furthermore, she admires the way our students support each other and are accepting of each other's cultural backgrounds.

 

Grade 3/4 Classroom Teacher – Mary Ann Dennis

Mary Ann joined Southern Cross at the start of 2017. She has many years teaching experience of different year levels in a wide variety of schools, including special education schools. She is dedicated to creating a learning environment that ensures all students have the opportunity to reach their full learning potential. She has a particular interest in Autism Spectrum Disorders and is continuously developing expertise in this area. Mary Ann loves animals and is responsible for introducing and caring for the Grade 3/4 classroom pets.  


 


Grade 3/4 Classroom Teacher – Nick Macente

Nick has developed a passion for teaching through various experiences and opportunities in a wide variety of schools. Nick enjoys incorporating hands on learning tasks as much as possible into his lessons. This is his first year at Southern Cross Primary School and  he is looking forward to becoming a valued member of the Southern Cross Primary School community. He strives on creating an inclusive and fun learning environment where students are able to grow and learn through every lesson.  He has a passion for Physical Education and enjoys integrating this passion whenever possible. Nick is looking forward to a great year at Southern Cross Primary!


 

Grade 5/6 Classroom Teacher – Daniela Boscolo

Daniela Boscolo has a strong passion for teaching ever since she was in primary school! She has had lots of experience and opportunities in a wide variety of schools, which has increased her knowledge in creating engaging, hands on activities that the students love. This is her first year at Southern Cross Primary School and she is looking forward to being involved in many extra-curricular activities to get to know, understand and build relationships with all students. She cannot wait to create a fun and supportive learning environment, where students can laugh and make mistakes without being judged or put down.  Daniela incorporates Physical Education into some of her lessons to ensure students are active and to integrate her interests of health, Physical Activity and wellbeing within the classroom.
